Permanent Contract, 11 and 16.5 Hours

 

Job Purpose

To facilitate a client focused service to adults with physical & sensory disabilities & complex health needs that include ABI.

 

 

Minimum Education & Skills required

  • A minimum QQI Level 5 in Social Care or equivalent
  • Training in responses to disability and medication management
  • Experience of working with invidiously with physical and sensory and ABI disability  
  • Experience in the provision of personal care and handling experience is an advantage
  • 5 day rota over 7 days includes weekends and shift work
  • Experience of facilitation, implementation and review of Support/Care Plans
  • Experience of promoting Self Advocacy with clients
  • Experience in the provision of community and home service based programmes and activities to promote independence and meet the needs, choices and abilities of clients
  • Skills and knowledge in the areas of physical and sensory disability and mental health issues
  • Know and implement professional boundaries and best practice

 

 

 Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Promote and actively involved in teamwork, creating a nurturing and supportive environment for the clients
  • Facilitate and implement a person centered service appropriate to the needs, wishes and requirements of clients
  • Provide personal assistance in all aspects of personal care and manual handling, ensuring comfort and hygiene of clients and adhering to safe practice at all times
  • Ensure that all interactions with Clients are approached with dignity, respect, and equality, incorporating choice
  • Actively participate in appropriate, educational, recreational and occupational programmes, enabling Clients to integrate with their local community and access local resources

 

 

Additional requirements

  • Full clean driving licence is essential
  • Professional, positive  and confident approach 
  • Effective advocate for clients, promoting self-advocacy
  • Work on own initiative
