Catering Assistant – Ward-Based | Dublin 3 | Hospital Catering

We are recruiting a Ward-Based Catering Assistant to support patient meal delivery within a healthcare facility in Dublin 3, North Dublin.

This is a patient-facing role focused on ward service and mealtime support, contributing directly to patient comfort, dignity and wellbeing.

The location is easily accessible via Clontarf Road and Killester DART stations, along with multiple Dublin Bus routes, making it convenient for candidates across North Dublin.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver meals safely to hospital wards and clinical areas

  • Assist patients respectfully during mealtimes, following dietary guidelines

  • Ensure accurate portioning and allergen awareness

  • Maintain cleanliness of trolleys, pantries and ward service areas

  • Follow HACCP, infection control and food safety procedures

  • Stock, label and rotate ward pantry supplies

  • Communicate effectively with ward staff and catering supervisors

Requirements

  • 6–12 months’ experience as a Catering Assistant or in a healthcare support role

  • Previous ward-based or healthcare catering experience (advantageous)

  • Knowledge of HACCP and infection control standards

  • Legal right to work in Ireland

  • Garda Vetting is mandatory for relevant roles.

  • International Police Clearance is required where a candidate has lived or worked outside Ireland for 6 months or more since the age of 16

  • Ability to provide five years of verifiable work references

  • Compassionate, patient-focused and reliable approach

Pay & Benefits

  • €17.53 per hour

  • Double pay on Sundays and Bank Holidays

  • Full-time daytime shifts only

  • No late-night work
