Description
ID Recruitment are working with a growing manufacturing company in Castlebar, Mayo to recruit an IT Technician. This is a new role that has come about from team growth and will be part of a collaborative and passionate IT team.
As the IT Technician, you will be based in the Castlebar manufacturing facility and you will be responsible for answering calls, responding and resolving tickets assigned to you from the IT Tech operations queue as well as being on the front-line assisting end-users with software and hardware support. To be successful in this role, you will need to be a team player who enjoys helping solve problems. You will need to be someone with strong technical knowledge on software but also happy to assist the organisation fix hardware problems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include;
- Act as a first responder to incoming incidents and requests for end-user support with workstation hardware and software (e.g., PC issues, error messages, barcode scanners, monitors, label printers, viruses, etc.).
- Provide support for on-site and remote end-users in Ireland & across Europe.
- Document, track, and monitor incidents and requests in detail within the company ITSM platform.
- Ensure ticket service level targets are met through proper follow-up.
- Ensure proper routing, escalation, and assignment of ITSM tickets.
- Provision and deploy new PC hardware and peripherals for new and existing employees.
- Support with generation of procedure documentation.
- Update Support Desk knowledge base articles to ensure call resolution details are available to colleagues.
- Help resolve issues and provide technical assistance for end-users who are using our manufacturing and ERP software solutions.
- Support other technical needs as required (e.g., mobile devices, tablets, apps, etc.).
- IT Maintenance:
- Assist with maintenance schedules of IT assets in the maintenance software
- Perform routine Zebra label printer maintenance
- Maintain and organise computer spare parts and hardware inventory levels
- Escalate computer software updates, viruses, and malware cleanup
- Assist with the backups & backup scheduling
- Monitor server rooms and related equipment (routers, UPS, etc.)
- Assist with out of hours maintenance and upgrades
IT Projects:
- Assists the Ireland IT Team with hardware, software, network, telephony system and IT infrastructure upgrades
- Provide feedback on policy and procedure documentation
- Assist and support the IT Development and Security teams with their project needs and deployments
Qualifications, Education & Experience
- Diploma or 3rd Level Degree in IT/ Microsoft Certifications/ITIL Foundation
- 2-3 years’ experience working in a similar IT technician position, manufacturing experience is desirable
- Strong English language written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of the Windows Client and Server operating systems (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, etc.)
- Experience in operation of and support of Microsoft Office and office 365 applications.
- Printing technologies and connectivity.
- Basic understanding of virtualization technologies (VMware/Hyper-V), thin clients and RDP.
- Networking technologies such as TCP/IP and stack, network cabling.
- Scripting skills (e.g., PowerShell, VBScript, batch files, etc.).
Physical Demands
This role will require occasional work may be done in an ISO Class 7 cleanroom environment. Please be aware that when entering this environment, you will be required to wear powder free gloves, face masks, hairnets, gowns, and shoe covers.
