Description
Relief Chef – Portrane | Healthcare Catering Role
We are hiring a Relief Chef to support a busy healthcare facility in Portrane, serving the wider North Dublin and Fingal community. This role is ideal for an experienced chef who can adapt quickly across stations, maintain high standards and support the delivery of nutritious meals that contribute directly to patient wellbeing.
Working within a clinical catering environment, you will support daily hospital kitchen operations, working closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, consistent and high-quality food service.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and present nutritious meals in line with patient dietary needs and clinical guidelines
- Support food production across pastry, salads, cold kitchen, preparation and service areas
- Maintain smooth kitchen operations with consistent quality and strong teamwork
- Carry out manual handling and heavy lifting tasks safely
- Follow HACCP, food safety, hygiene and cook-chill procedures
- Manage stock rotation, proper storage and waste reduction processes
- Ensure accurate allergen management, portion control and food presentation
- Work with dietitians and clinical teams on specialised menu planning
- Maintain a safe, compliant and well-organised healthcare kitchen
Requirements
- QQI Level 6 in Culinary Arts or equivalent professional chef qualification
- Experience in healthcare catering or high-volume kitchen environments
- Strong adaptability across multiple kitchen stations
- Excellent knowledge of HACCP, food safety and cook-chill processes
- Legal right to work in Ireland and ability to complete Garda Vetting
- Five years of verifiable work references
- Flexibility to work weekday and weekend shifts
- Strong communication and teamwork within a clinical setting
Salary & Benefits
- €20.50 per hour
- Double Pay on Sundays and Bank Holidays
- Full-time hours, day shifts only (Monday–Sunday roster)
