Senior Social Worker
Location: North Dublin
Salary:

We are currently recruiting for a full-time, permanent Senior Worker responsible for clinical oversight in long-term care across mainstream nursing homes and mental health units. Our client is known for its exceptional provision of acute mental health treatment and care for adults and older persons facing serious and enduring mental health disorders. Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive social work assessment, support, and advice across Alzheimer’s Care unit, nursing home, and long-stay mental health units.
  • Manage a defined caseload, identifying social conditions impacting health and social wellbeing, and arranging appropriate social services.
  • Ensure Social Work services adhere to CORU’s Code of Professional Conduct, relevant legislation, and recovery-oriented principles.
  • Implement early interventions and social action strategies in partnership with service users, based on needs assessment.
  • Deliver supportive counselling, practical support, and information tailored to service users and families.
  • Address child protection concerns, fulfilling statutory reporting obligations under relevant guidelines and acts.
  • Demonstrate advanced clinical knowledge of Fair Deal scheme, Mental Health Act 2001, and Assisted Decision-Making (Capacity) Act 2015.
  • Lead safeguarding practices, chair Safeguarding Committee, and provide guidance on human rights and empowerment of older persons.
  • Support hospital compliance with Assisted Decision-Making Act 2015, including applications to be appointed Decision-Making Representative.
  • Provide supervision, cross-coverage, group work, training, and expertise on Fair Deal scheme developments.

  
  
Requirements:

  • CORU registration.
  • Demonstrated clinical and professional knowledge relevant to the position.
  • Hold a National Qualification in Social Work (N.Q.S.W.) or equivalent recognized qualification.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in Care of Older Persons, Psychiatry of Old Age, and/or HSE Safeguarding Team.
  • Advanced clinical understanding of the Fair Deal scheme, Assisted Decision Making (Capacity) Act 2015, and Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults policies.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Special interest and expertise in Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults.
