As a Social Care Worker, you use positive approaches to support people who may have challenging behaviour in line with organisational practice. You may be asked to participate in all aspects of the running of the service including leisure activities, escort duties, general cleaning and upkeep of the service.
Responsibilities of Social Care Workers:
Assist individual service user with person centred goals in the home or community
Enable service users to participate in community activities by providing the required assistance and support
Provide support in educational or work assignments as required
Assist individual service user with therapy exercises as required
Personal assistance in the areas of toileting, eating, dressing and transferring as required
Facilitate in social and leisure activities as required
Participate in training as required
Any other appropriate duties which may be assigned
To have proven ability to interact successfully with people with various disabilities.
Understanding and experience of therapeutic interventions.
A knowledge of the HIQA/Tusla regulations and standards.
Essential Criteria
Minimum Level 7 Degree in Social Care in addition to in-date certificates in Patient Moving & Handling, MAPA, First Aid and Children’s First
Will have a proven ability to interact successfully on a one to one basis with clients
Will have fluent written and spoken English and excellent report writing skills
Have experience of working with children/individuals with physical disabilities
Have experience providing personal care to individuals
Demonstrates excellent written, presentation and verbal communication skills
Demonstrates good awareness of health and safety issues
