Ward Catering Assistant Job in Kildare – €15.90 per Hour
We’re hiring a Ward Catering Assistant in Kildare, offering competitive pay and a chance to make a meaningful difference in patient care.
What This Role Offers Take pride in helping patients by ensuring their dietary needs are met with care and attention. Enjoy daytime work hours between 7 AM and 6:30 PM, and benefit from double pay on Sundays and Bank Holidays. This rewarding role is full-time, primarily Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend shifts. A full driving license is desirable due to the role’s location.
Key Duties and Responsibilities As a Ward Catering Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring patient comfort and satisfaction. Your responsibilities include:
- Consulting with patients or parents to understand food preferences and completing menu selections.
- Working with nurses to confirm specific dietary requirements, including allergies, and preparing tailored food orders.
- Serving meals to patients at their bedside and assisting them as needed for comfort.
- Accurately preparing food trays, following guidelines for portions, drinks, and snacks.
- Gathering feedback from patients or parents about meals and reporting to the supervisor or head chef.
- Stocking ward pantries with the needed food and beverages for daily service.
- Cleaning and sanitising crockery, cutlery, and service areas as per hospital schedules.
- Following HACCP procedures, including food and equipment temperature checks, and reporting any concerns.
- Performing general cleaning duties in the kitchen to maintain high hygiene standards.
Requirements for the Role We’re looking for flexible and dedicated individuals with:
- 6 months to 1 year of experience in catering or food service, ideally in a healthcare or high-volume environment.
- Legal eligibility to work in Ireland, with successful Garda Vetting clearance.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A commitment to hygiene, infection control, and adherence to safety standards.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- A full driving license (desirable, but not essential).
