Hospital Chef – Healthcare Catering | Westmeath

We are recruiting an experienced Hospital Chef to support healthcare facilities across Westmeath, preparing high-quality, nutritious meals that directly support patient care, recovery and wellbeing.

This is a structured healthcare catering role, ideal for chefs seeking daytime hours, no late nights and stable, meaningful work within a regulated healthcare environment.

The role suits chefs with experience in hospital kitchens, healthcare facilities or large-scale catering operations who are comfortable working to clinical standards and strict food safety procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and present meals in line with clinical and dietary guidelines

  • Work across hot kitchen, cold kitchen, preparation, plating and service areas

  • Maintain smooth daily kitchen operations with consistent quality standards

  • Follow HACCP, food safety, hygiene and cook-chill procedures at all times

  • Manage stock rotation, storage, labelling and waste control

  • Ensure allergen compliance and accurate portion control

  • Work closely with dietitians, catering managers and healthcare teams

  • Maintain a clean, compliant and well-organised healthcare kitchen

Requirements

  • QQI Level 6 in Culinary Arts or equivalent qualification

  • Proven experience as a Hospital Chef or Healthcare Catering Chef

  • Strong knowledge of HACCP, cook-chill systems and food safety standards

  • Legal right to work in Ireland

  • Garda Vetting is mandatory for relevant roles.

  • International Police Clearance is required where a candidate has lived or worked outside Ireland for 6 months or more since the age of 16

  • Ability to provide five years of verifiable work references

  • Strong organisational skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team

Pay & Benefits

  • €20.50 per hour

  • Double pay on Sundays and Bank Holidays

  • Full-time daytime shifts only
