Social Care Worker – Athlone & Mullingar
Community-Based Youth & Family Support Role

3Q Recruitment is recruiting a Social Care Worker for a community-based healthcare service in the Midlands, supporting young people under 18 and their families affected by substance and alcohol misuse.

This is a rewarding, front-line social care role focused on early intervention, family support and youth wellbeing. You will work directly with young people and their families in a supportive, community setting.

The role involves:

  • One day per week in Mullingar
  • One day per week in Athlone

This provides consistency for service users and a balanced working pattern.
The Role As a Social Care Worker, you will provide person-centred support to young people experiencing substance or alcohol misuse and work closely with families and external agencies to support recovery, resilience and positive outcomes.

This role suits candidates with experience in community care, youth services, addiction support or social care environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, person-centred support to young people affected by substance or alcohol misuse
  • Offer guidance and support to parents, siblings and guardians
  • Develop and review individualised care and support plans
  • Promote recovery, wellbeing and independence
  • Liaise with external agencies including CAMHS, YAMHS, Tusla, An Garda Síochána, schools, Education Welfare Officers, Youthreach, GPs, AA, NA and Al-Anon
  • Maintain accurate and confidential case notes and reports
  • Participate in case conferences, inter-agency meetings and supervision
  • Follow child protection, safeguarding and health & safety procedures

Requirements

  • Minimum Level 7 qualification in Social Care, Counselling, Psychology, Addiction Studies or a related discipline
  • Experience in community care, residential services, youth work or addiction services
  • Strong understanding of person-centred and rights-based approaches
  • Excellent communication and engagement skills
  • Knowledge of Children First and child protection procedures
  • Legal right to work in Ireland
  • Garda Vetting is mandatory for relevant roles.
  • International Police Clearance is required where a candidate has lived or worked outside Ireland for 6 months or more since the age of 16
  • Full driving licence and access to own transport desirable
