Description
Our Client, a leading hospital in the public sector, is seeking a Clinical Specialist Radiographer in CT.
The Radiology Department provides General Radiography, Emergency X-rays, Mobile X-ray, Fluoroscopy, Ultrasound and CT with a hospital wide RIS/PACS (NIMIS). The Radiology Department provides a highly efficient and effective service both within the hospital and for primary and community services. On-call services are provided out-of-hours for the 24 hour Emergency Department, In-Patients and CT. The post holder will report to the Radiography Services Manager.
The Radiographer, Clinical Specialist CT will:
- Stay updated on clinical and technical advancements in Radiology and advocate for best practices, implementing changes when necessary.
- Take a leadership role in guiding staff and others through change management processes.
- Foster a shared commitment and engagement among staff in areas under your responsibility.
- Lead a team of skilled staff, cultivating positive working relationships and providing strategic and clinical guidance to ensure the delivery of an effective, efficient, quality-assured, and patient-centered Radiology service.
- Drive and implement changes to enhance the service, adapting to local work practices as needed.
- Clinical Specialists may need to assume the role of Radiography Services Manager as required.
- Take primary responsibility, as a team leader, for the day-to-day operation of the CT service and the efficient utilization of allocated resources.
- Embrace changes and adjust to local work practices accordingly.
- Ensure accountability for the quality of service provided, including customer service and technical aspects.
- Assist in the development and enactment of operational policies, protocols, and guidelines adhering to international best practices and standards.
- Offer guidance on equipment selection, procurement, replacement, or upgrades, while adhering to the Health Service Executive (HSE) Procurement Policy.
- Aid in drafting service plans, oversee their execution, and provide reports on progress. Establish and maintain accurate clinical data information systems in alignment with hospital standards.
- Maintain precise records of equipment service, maintenance, malfunctions, downtime, and performance, as necessary. Coordinate preventative maintenance schedules based on clinical demand.
- Stay informed about radiographic, clinical, technical, and professional advancements, promoting awareness of new developments in CT. Ensure implementation and upkeep of best practices.
- Contribute to and engage in quality improvement initiatives within the department, supporting overall quality standards.
- Initiate and participate in clinical audits to enhance service quality.
- Provide advice on patient scheduling and waiting lists to optimize CT patient workflow. Regularly review CT waiting lists for efficiency.
- Support the Radiography Service Manager in the implementation of initiatives aimed at on-going service development and improvement.
- Develop and maintain a training function, as may be required, in relation to qualified staff and/or trainees and students. Supervise and assess all training, as required.
- Contribute to the induction programme of all new members of staff.
- Assess the work performance of staff assigned to the CT department.
- Identify training needs of new staff in equipment and procedures specific to CT.
- Ensure that all hospital policies and relevant legislation on radiation safety is understood by staff and complied with.
- Ensure all hospital policies on infection control, health and safety are understood by staff and complied with.
- Contribute to Risk Assessment of the CT department and contribute to the departmental safety statement.
Candidates must have:
- CORU Registration
- No less than 6 years full time post qualification clinical experience
- Hold a recognised postgraduate course relevant to the specialism.
- Possess the requisite knowledge
