Lead Veterinary Surgeon – Small Animal Practice | Kildare

The Vet Office is proud to be supporting a well-established and highly regarded small animal practice in Kildare, in the search for an experienced Lead Veterinary Surgeon.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a senior vet looking to combine clinical excellence with leadership and strategic influence, while remaining hands-on in practice.

The Role

The Lead Veterinary Surgeon plays a key role in the overall performance and direction of the clinic, with responsibility across clinical leadership, team development, and operational performance.

Reporting to the Regional Director, the Lead Vet works closely with central support teams while retaining autonomy at clinic level.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

• Act as a clinical and cultural leader within the practice

• Mentor and support veterinary colleagues, fostering continuous professional development

• Promote a positive, inclusive, and engaged team culture

• Communicate effectively with the wider group and internal stakeholders

Candidate Profile

• MVB qualification and registration (or eligibility) with the VCI

• Proven experience in a senior or leadership veterinary role

• Strong surgical interest and confidence

• Excellent communication, decision-making, and people leadership skills

• Commercial awareness and ability to work autonomously

• Professional, approachable, and team-oriented mindset

Additional qualifications in leadership, finance, or advanced clinical practice are advantageous.
