Social Care Worker Jobs Westmeath
Community & Healthcare Role | Mullingar & Athlone

3Q Recruitment is recruiting a Social Care Worker for a community-based healthcare service in Westmeath, supporting young people under 18 and their families affected by substance and alcohol misuse.

This is a rewarding, front-line role offering the opportunity to work directly with young people and their families, supporting recovery, wellbeing and resilience in a professional, supportive environment.

Work pattern:

• 1 day per week in Mullingar
• 1 day per week in Athlone

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, person-centred support to young people affected by substance or alcohol misuse
  • Offer guidance and practical support to parents, siblings and guardians
  • Develop, implement and review individualised care and support plans
  • Promote recovery, independence and long-term wellbeing
  • Liaise with agencies including CAMHS, YAMHS, Tusla, An Garda Síochána, schools, Education Welfare Officers, Youthreach, GPs, AA, NA and Al-Anon
  • Maintain accurate and confidential case notes and reports
  • Uphold child protection, safeguarding and health & safety procedures
  • Participate in case conferences, inter-agency meetings and professional supervision

Requirements

  • Minimum Level 7 qualification in Social Care, Counselling, Psychology, Addiction Studies or a related discipline
  • Experience in community care, residential services, youth support or addiction services
  • Strong understanding of person-centred and rights-based approaches
  • Excellent communication, empathy and teamwork skills
  • Knowledge of Children First guidelines and child protection legislation
  • Legal Right to work in Ireland
  • Garda Vetting is mandatory for relevant roles.
  • International Police Clearance is required where a candidate has lived or worked outside Ireland for 6 months or more since the age of 16
  • Full driving licence and access to own transport desirable
